Spring Food Drive Benefitting House of Refuge
April 2019
Dudley
Ventures’ employees celebrated the start of spring with a Food Drive
benefitting House of Refuge in Mesa, Arizona. The team was able to dress casually on
each day they brought in a case of bottled water or a bag of non-perishable
food items including: canned vegetables and fruit, rice, pasta and pasta
sauce, granola bars, fruit snacks, macaroni and cheese, cereal and other
breakfast foods, crackers and cheese packs, peanut butter, juice boxes, and
cookies. These items go a long way to support the formerly homeless families residing
at the House of Refuge.
House of Refuge
provides safe, stable housing to families who are experiencing homelessness. In
1995, House of Refuge acquired 88 homes to provide transitional housing
community and a support program to eligible families and they have been
changing lives ever since. Programming is focused on five areas: employment
& education, financial literacy, health & wellness, life skills, and
permanent housing. Case Managers develop an individualized case plan for each
family, focusing on life skills, employment, childcare, health and wellness,
substance abuse prevention, and enrollment into available benefit programs.

DV Free Dress Food Drive to Benefit Arizona Brainfood
March / April 2017
During our Free Dress
Food Drive, DV employees were allowed casual dress on Mondays for
donating five food items each week. We are extremely excited to have donated
four, extra-large boxes of food to Arizona Brainfood! Arizona Brainfood discreetly
provides a backpack of food to feed hungry school children on the weekend.
In Mesa, 60% of elementary-aged children qualify for the Federal Program of
free or reduced lunch at school. For some of these children, their only food
comes from the school lunch programs and they have little or no food to eat on
the weekends. Children who are part of programs that provide food to take home
on weekends have had test scores increase in math up to 23% and absenteeism and
behavioral issues decrease by up to 40% after their first year of participation!
