NMTC Economic Impact Report

The New Markets Tax Credit Coalition published a new report on the economic impact of the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) from 2003 to 2015. This is the third edition of the NMTC Economic Impact Report, which is authored by Rapoza Associates on behalf of the NMTC Coalition. The report analyzed U.S. Department of Treasury data and survey data from 5,000 projects financed by the Credit. It shows that in addition to creating more than one million jobs, the NMTC has touched the lives of millions more individuals, from the 17 million patients served by NMTC-financed healthcare projects to the nearly 250,000 students and children attending NMTC-financed schools or cared-for in early-childhood learning centers.

Mayor Bill de Blasio Opens One of Largest Manufacturing Spaces in Decades, Building 77 in Brooklyn Navy Yard

Mayor Bill de Blasio today celebrated the opening of the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Building 77, a one-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing building and the largest on the 300-acre industrial campus. The $185 million renovation of the World War II-era storage facility is a milestone for the growth of manufacturing in New York City and the de Blasio administration’s push to build 100,000 good-paying jobs across a range of industries. Located within the City-owned Brooklyn Navy Yard at the corner of Vanderbilt and Flushing Avenues, the 16-story building will be home to more than 3,000 jobs. Building 77 is the centerpiece of a billion-dollar investment currently underway at the Yard to add over two million square feet of space and 10,000 good-paying jobs by 2020.

Monogram Clean Energy Plants Wins Project of the Year Award!

We are proud to have been part of the Monogram Clean Energy Plant team which was named 2017 Project of the Year by the American Biogas Council! Monogram Foods operates a production plant in Martinsville, Virginia, that produces beef jerky and other meat snacks. In 2016, to support the expansion of its production plant and address waste treatment needs, Monogram initiated construction on a new Clean Energy Plant (CEP) that principally uses an Anaerobic Digester (AD) to treat its wastes. The CEP was completed in June 2017. It was conceived by Monogram staff, its engineers, and its financial representatives to address waste and wastewater treatment needs in a sustainable fashion. The biogas is used to produce both heat and power for plant operations.

AeroFarms Gets $1 Million Research Grant

Newark, N.J.-based AeroFarms has been awarded a $1 million Seeding Solutions grant from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research. The foundation is a nonprofit organization established in the 2014 farm bill, according to a news release, and the grant was celebrated by research and industry leaders at a Sept. 7 function at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
