Stillwater Medical Center

Stillwater, Oklahoma

Stillwater Medical Center (Stillwater), a nonprofit rural emergency medical services center, is expanding its services with the construction and renovation of a 28,700 square foot medical facility to include an Intensive Care Unit, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a new Cancer Center in rural Stillwater, Oklahoma. The new ICU will include 14 new beds and 7 renovated beds that will serve an additional 1,100 patients, 20% of which will be low-income persons, helping to alleviate the dangerous shortage of ICU beds available in this medically underserved area. The NICU, part of Stillwater’s partnership with OU Medical Center to alleviate NICU shortage, will have 10 new beds and 4 renovated beds be able to serve 2,390 patients, with over 64% of patients being low−income persons. The Cancer Center expansion includes a new vault to house an Elekta Unity MR Linac which provides the most advanced form of MR/RT radiotherapy and will greatly enhance the hospital’s ability to provide effective cancer treatments. As the second largest employer in Stillwater and in a rural area with a 39% poverty rate, the expansion will create 50 new full-time jobs. As a not-for-profit facility which suffered during Covid-19, Stillwater would be unable to purchase the additional equipment and expand the facility and services without the use of NMTC financing.
