ERMCO
Greenville, Tennessee

Electric Research and Manufacturing Cooperative, Inc. (ERMCO), headquartered in Dyersburg, Tennessee, is a manufacturer of transformers and components for the energy and electric transmission
industries. ERMCO transformers deliver cleaner, cheaper energy, particularly across its core footprint in
the Southeast and are essential to federal, state, and local responses to natural disasters as a vital
component to restoring power. The company experienced rapid growth in recent years in large part due
to the aging infrastructure of the nation’s power grid, among other things. In response, ERMCO is
expanding its plant and purchasing and installing new equipment to increase operational efficiencies.
Located in a rural area with an unemployment rate 2.11x the national average, the project will create
300 full-time jobs and retain 80 jobs that pay above the area’s MIT average living wage and provide a full
benefits package. ERMCO also promotes from within and provides employees with on-the-job training
and tuition reimbursement. Without NMTC financing, ERMCO would suffer from underinvestment and
decreasing efficiencies from outdated equipment, putting current and future ‘Made-In-America’ jobs at
risk should the company need to offshore production.
